My First Impression about Eat Stop Eat
Honestly, at the first time, I didn’t have any idea what kind of diet is Eat Stop Eat talking about. But my daughter can figure it out easily by decoding the picture in its cover, “So, this book is about eating, then stop eating because the bowl is empty, and eating again. Right?”
In this book, Brad Pilon shows his knowledges, opinions and argumentations about fasting as the part of his recommended diet. He usually follow any statement with a footnote about its scientific source. So we know that this book doesn’t contain with lip service only.
Generally, I like the way this book written. Easy to understand, systematic and every words are meaningful. We can read it quickly since the author usually give a bottom line note in the last paragraph of each topic.
My Experience with Fasting
Personally, I see Eat Stop Eat is very similar to fasting in my religion. I am fasting one month full, 13 hours break from eating each day. Since being said that there is still a benefit to fasting for less than 24 hours, I can say I am agree with a lot of statements in this book. Fasting can do weight loss, fasting is good for health, even improve our health quality.
Fasting for a month each year is an obligation in my religion. Although there is an exception for some people because of their weakness like children, elder persons, getting ill, pregnant and breastfeeding women etc.
I chose not to fast in my first pregnant. Then I tried to fast several days in my second pregnant. And I decided to fast one month full every years later even I was pregnant and/or breastfeeding. I feel getting healthier year by year and reach an ideal weight, especially after fasting.
Eat Stop Eat suggests us to use fasting once or twice a week as our lifestyle. I believe it is a good and healthy lifestyle although I didn’t do it yet. Because it’s suggested in my religion, too.

This is a great book. Even it contains some anti mainstream facts and theories, but most of them are familiar enough for me. And I am the one who agrees with this book. Still, this book gives a lot of new knowledges for me and entertains me at the same time because it’s easy to understand.
